Florida Water Environment Association United States 2026

Information

A youth science competition for high school students who have conducted research in water-related sciences. The Florida Water Environment Association (FWEA) runs the Florida state SJWP competition to select a state winner to advance to the U.S. national competition. State winners may win cash prizes and receive travel support to the U.S. national competition; the international winner receives a cash prize and a crystal sculpture at World Water Week. Beginning in 2026 the U.S. national process includes a virtual national judging round and an in-person national finals.

Benefits

State cash prizes (First: $1,000; Second: $500; Third: $250), certificate and medallion from WEF, paid flight and hotel to U.S. national competition; U.S. national winner receives $10,000 and an all-expenses-paid trip to Stockholm plus a framed certificate; international winner receives $15,000 and a crystal sculpture.

Eligibility

Open to all high school students in grades 9-12 who have conducted a water-related science project and have reached the age of 15 by August 1 of the competition year; individual students or teams of two may enter.
