Information

The Tinker Field Research Grant supports preliminary, exploratory field research that lays groundwork for future graduate-level scholarship in Latin America. It funds travel and field-related expenses for Master's students and pre-dissertation PhD students conducting fieldwork in Spanish- or Portuguese-speaking countries in Latin America. Grants vary by project with a stated maximum award. Applicants must plan at least two weeks of field research and participation in study abroad or conferences does not satisfy the research requirement.

Benefits

Grant funding up to $3,500 to cover travel and field-related research expenses.

Eligibility

Open to Master's students and pre-dissertation PhD students (ABD students are not eligible); students enrolled in professional degree programs are also eligible. Research must take place in Spanish- or Portuguese-speaking countries within Latin America and must include a minimum of two weeks of field research.

Application

Apply via the online application (Qualtrics) and upload a proposal (max 4 double-spaced pages), a detailed budget, and unofficial graduate transcripts. Two letters of recommendation must be submitted by references via the provided recommendation submission link; applicants must provide the link to their referees.
