Information

A small research grant for graduate student research on Brazil-related topics, administered by the Portuguese Program and the Latin American and Caribbean Studies Institute (LACSI) at the University of Georgia. The award will support research activities taking place between 2026-04-01 and 2026-06-01. Four to five awards of up to $250 will be granted to students from any discipline for fieldwork, data analysis, writing, or presenting academic work on Brazil-related topics. Final supporting documentation and evidence of planned research activities must be submitted to LACSI by 2026-06-01.

Eligibility

All graduate students studying Brazil and currently enrolled in a UGA department, institute, center, or program are eligible; proposed activities may take place inside or outside Brazil and can include fieldwork, data analysis, writing, or presenting academic work on Brazil-related topics.

Application

Complete the application form and submit provisional or final supporting materials by the deadline; a PORT-LACSI faculty committee will evaluate applications and notify winners by 2026-04-10.
