Joint Excellence in Science and Humanities (JESH)

The Joint Excellence in Science and Humanities (JESH) programme promotes cooperation between excellent early career researchers from abroad and scholars in Austria and also supports outgoing stays by Austrian researchers. It funds research stays at eligible public universities, the Austrian Academy of Sciences and publicly funded research institutions for durations of 1–6 months. The programme provides a monthly stipend to successful applicants and supports bilateral research exchange between Austria and 61 target countries. Applications are submitted to the Austrian Academy of Sciences.

Monthly stipend of EUR 2,700 for the duration of the stay (1–6 months).

Early career researchers with a maximum of 10 years of research experience following completion of their doctorate/PhD; eligible host institutions in Austria are institutes and departments at Austrian public universities, the Austrian Academy of Sciences and publicly funded research institutions; eligible host institutions in the 61 target countries are institutes and departments at public universities, national academies of sciences and publicly funded research institutions.
