A set of fellowships supporting scholars, researchers, and professionals to conduct research in Japan in the humanities, social sciences, and comparative research. Categories include Research Fellowship (Long-Term), Research Fellowship (Short-Term), and Doctoral Fellowship. Fellowships provide support for periods ranging from 21 days up to 12 months depending on category. The program is administered by The Japan Foundation, New York for US applicants.

Eligibility
Outstanding scholars, researchers, and professionals in the humanities, social sciences, and/or comparative research; Research Fellowship categories require applicants to hold a Ph.D. or equivalent professional experience, and the Doctoral Fellowship requires ABD status by the time the fellowship begins.
