Information

The Carter Manny Award is a grant program that supports PhD dissertation research and writing in architecture and related fields. There are two awards: a Research Award for dissertation-stage research and a Writing Award for the final stages of dissertation writing. Awards are monetary and intended to support research costs or a period of uninterrupted writing. A limited number of Citations of Special Recognition may also be given in some years.

Eligibility

PhD candidates who have completed all required coursework and exams and have had their dissertation proposal formally approved by their academic department; candidates must be nominated by their academic department. The award is open to PhD candidates officially enrolled in schools in the United States and Canada, regardless of citizenship.

Application

Candidates must be nominated by their academic department (a department may nominate up to two candidates per cycle). Once nominated, the candidate submits an online application per the program calendar.
