About this opportunity

The Futures_Past funding program invites immersive artists teams from South Africa, Lesotho, and Malawi to develop immersive storytelling projects drawn from archival material. The initiative provides financial support, mentorship, access to archives, and a mobility and networking programme, with a production timeline that culminates in August 2026. Selected teams create original immersive digital storytelling projects and may include an open-call development phase with training for a trainee assistant producer under 30.

Eligibility

Teams must comprise at least four key roles (director, technologist, producer, and a trainee assistant producer under 30). The director should be from and/or based in the country where the archive is located, with ability to travel if needed.
