About this opportunity
IGAD Leadership Academy (ILA) is a leadership development training for young Africans, conducted in three cohorts in 2025 with support from the Government of Japan. The programme aims to develop leadership skills in governance, peacebuilding, and regional cooperation, with mentorship from policymakers and experts. It is open to women and youth from IGAD Member States and does not charge application or participation fees.

Eligibility
Open to women and youth from IGAD Member States aged 18-35 with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, English proficiency, and a demonstrated commitment to ethical leadership and regional development. Applicants must be willing to travel to Kenya and engage in ILA activities throughout 2025 and join the Alumni Network.
How to apply
Submit a detailed CV, a motivation letter, and two recommendation letters via email to ILA@igad.int. The application subject should be “ILA 2025 TRAINING”. Interviews will be conducted virtually; training will occur in three cohorts in 2025.
