Altavoz Lab Community Journalist Fellowship 2026

The Altavoz Lab Community Journalist Fellowship 2026 is a seven-month program for journalists who work in or are deeply connected to historically disinvested U.S. communities. The fellowship supports in-depth reporting projects and audience-engagement work, with funding allocated to fellows and host newsrooms to strengthen reporting and distribution.

Funding for a reporting project and newsroom engagement, with up to $8,000 for the fellow and up to $3,000 for the host newsroom.

Open to freelancers and staff reporters of all experience levels working in English or Spanish with community-based news outlets that serve historically disinvested audiences across the U.S.

Submit a project budget and audience engagement plan, provide a professional reference, resume and headshot, editor consent form, and evidence of living in or reporting in the community.
