About this opportunity

The Southern African Journalists’ Bursary Programme offers a bursary for young Southern African journalists to gain insights into Germany and work with host media in Berlin. The programme includes a fixed grant aimed at covering travel, accommodation and living expenses, with reporting requirements after return home. Up to six Southern African delegates and up to five German journalists participate each year.

A fixed grant of 3,500 Euro, exposure to host media in Germany, opportunity to conduct research and report, conference-related activities in Berlin, and publication of journalistic work after returning home.

Eligibility

All journalists from Southern Africa aged 25 to 40 who regularly work for a media organisation can apply.

How to apply

Submit a CV with a passport photo, an 800-word essay, a one-page resume, language certificates, copies of articles, and a journalistic reference; select preferred outlet with arrangements for leave.
