About this opportunity
The TOKAS International Creator Residency Program invites creators from around the world to live and work in Tokyo for three months, supporting artistic development with accommodation, living expenses, airfare, and a production grant. Participants focus on their own project, with opportunities to present work at an OPEN STUDIO event and engage with the Tokyo art scene. The program is run by TOKAS, part of the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, and runs in three sessions across 2027 and 2028.
Benefits & funding
The program provides free accommodation, daily living expenses, round-trip airfare, a grant for the creative work (JPY 300,000), and a daily allowance (JPY 4,200).
Eligibility
Applicants should have at least five years of experience in their creative field, be able to communicate in English, be independent in daily life and work, and not be a student at the residency start (PhD candidates allowed). Duo applications are allowed with at least one person living outside Japan.
