Political Participation Internship 2026

The Political Participation Internship is a UN Women opportunity based in New York, designed for students and recent graduates with an interest in gender equality, democratic governance, political participation, public policy, research, and international development. Interns will support research, data collection, legislative reviews, and policy-related initiatives to advance women’s political empowerment and leadership globally. The program offers professional development through hands-on work and exposure to UN policy processes.

Participants gain professional development, knowledge of women’s political participation globally, understanding of electoral and governance systems, experience with SDG indicators, and exposure to international policy processes.

Applicants should be enrolled in a graduate degree program, in the final year of a bachelor’s degree, or have graduated within the last two years, and may be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship that requires internship participation.
