Advancing Indigenous and Refugee Knowledge and Engagement on Migration in Africa – AIReKEMA Research Fellowship 2026

The AIReKEMA Research Fellowship 2026 invites applications for a 12-month, part-time research fellowship focused on Indigenous knowledge and refugee-led initiatives in migration governance in Africa. It targets early-career researchers, postgraduate students, and community leaders to conduct original research that informs policy and border governance. Fellows receive supervision, access to library resources, and a dedicated stipend plus an additional research fund.

Stipend (US$11,000) and research fund (US$1,800); co-supervision; access to university resources; support for ethics clearance; professional networking and credential enhancement.

Candidates should be postgraduate students (MA or PhD) or early-career scholars/community leaders with relevant experience in migration, refugees, Indigenous knowledge, or local governance.
