The International Court of Justice Judicial Fellowship Programme is a professional fellowship for recent law graduates to gain experience by working at the ICJ. Fellows work full-time under a judge’s supervision, conduct research and draft memoranda, attend hearings, and perform related duties. The programme duration is approximately ten months, from early September to June of the following year, with about 15 participants selected from universities worldwide.

Benefits

Experience at the ICJ, mentorship by a judge, opportunity to attend public hearings, research and prepare memoranda, and involvement in other Court activities.

Eligibility

Eligible candidates should be 31 years old or younger at the start of the fellowship, must demonstrate excellent results in their legal studies and an interest in public international law, and must have fluency in at least one ICJ official language (English or French). Universities nominate candidates; individuals cannot apply directly.
