Moses Mapesa Research Grants for African Doctoral and Masters Students

The African World Heritage Fund offers the Moses Mapesa Research Grant to support African Doctoral and Masters Students conducting research on World Heritage or tentative listed sites in Africa, with a focus on fieldwork. Grants vary in amount and can provide funding for research projects up to nine months in duration. Recipients must present a longer research description at grant start and a final report, with documents accepted in English, French, or Portuguese.

Funds up to USD 5,000 for research and fieldwork; required reports and final dissertation/thesis; financial reporting.

Open to students currently or soon to be registered in a Doctoral or Masters programme at an African university conducting dissertation research in natural or cultural heritage; must be fluent in English, French, or Portuguese; must be a citizen of an African Union Member State party to the World Heritage Convention.
