European Youth Capital 2029

The European Youth Capital 2029 is an initiative by the European Youth Forum that designates a European city for one year to empower young people, boost youth participation, and strengthen European identity. Cities submit an ambitious programme to demonstrate youth empowerment and engagement across city life, with a focus on youth participation and co-decision-making. The award aims to showcase innovative youth projects and ideas at the municipal level and encourage other cities to follow.

The winning city is awarded the title of European Youth Capital for one year, with support to implement its youth-focused programme and visibility at the European level.

Local authorities from member states of the Council of Europe may apply for the European Youth Capital title.

Submit initial concept note by 17 February 2026, followed by detailed application by 18 June 2026, and final application by 7 October 2026.
