The SCOJA Fellowship 2026 aims to empower community journalists and advocates in northern Nigeria with training and mentorship to improve hyperlocal reporting and advocacy. It includes a 3-day training in focal states and a 6-month post-training period for fellows to produce stories and engage in advocacy activities, with various topics such as human rights, digital safety, and data-driven journalism.

Benefits

Mentorship for the duration of the Fellowship; support in developing reports and advocacy activities; skills in advocacy, reporting, fact-checking and safety training; networking and peer-to-peer learning; stipend for the duration of the Fellowship.

Eligibility

Open to journalists and advocates whose work focuses on specific communities, towns or states in the target region, who reside in the target states and are able to commit to six months of engagement.
