Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) Worldwide 2025

Information

GBIF—the Global Biodiversity Information Facility—seeks concept notes from eligible organizations in sub-Saharan Africa for project funding through the Biodiversity Information for Development (BID) programme. The BID call aims to strengthen capacity to mobilize and openly share biodiversity data to inform decision-making and support the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. Two grant types are available to fund biodiversity data mobilization projects over 24 months.

Eligibility

Applicants must be legal entities (e.g., research institutions, universities, museums, NGOs or government agencies) registered in eligible sub-Saharan Africa countries and propose projects aligned with BID objectives.

Application

Submit concept notes through the GBIF Grants Portal by 3 November 2025; shortlisted applicants proceed to full proposals in 2026; projects start on 03 July 2026 and run up to 24 months.
