The Alan T. Waterman Award recognizes an outstanding early-career researcher in any field of science or engineering supported by the U.S. National Science Foundation. It is presented annually as the nation's highest honor for early-career scientists and engineers. In addition to a medal, the awardee receives a grant of $1,000,000 distributed over a five-year period. The grant is intended to support scientific research or advanced study at the institution of the awardee's choice in disciplines supported by the National Science Foundation.
