Information

The REU-Blinks Summer Internship Program places undergraduate students and post-baccalaureates with scientist-mentors as collaborators on marine science research projects at the University of Washington Friday Harbor Laboratories. The eight-week program provides a full-immersion research experience including 1:1 mentorship, workshops, seminars, and training in addition to hands-on field and laboratory research. Participants live in student housing and take part in FHL community activities, present a final talk, and prepare a written research paper. Projects vary each year and are designed by mentors to be achievable within the summer period.

Benefits

Room and board, round-trip travel support, weekly stipend of $500, mentorship, workshops and seminars, access to FHL research facilities and community activities.

Eligibility

The NSF REU Site grant supports U.S. citizens or permanent residents during their undergraduate careers. The Blinks Endowment supports students who bring diversity to the FHL student body in any phase of their undergraduate studies (including recent post-baccalaureates) and allows non-US citizens.
