DESY Summer Program 2026

The DESY Summer Program is an eight-week, funded summer training placement at research facilities of the DESY institute in Germany. It places students in research teams to work on real projects in areas such as photonics, accelerator physics, astrophysics/particle-related physics, engineering and scientific computing. The programme includes practical laboratory training, lectures, social and cultural activities, and access to DESY research infrastructure in Hamburg or Zeuthen.

Eight weeks of supervised research placement working on scientific projects; access to DESY research facilities; free accommodation; living allowance; partial travel reimbursement; official invitation letter for visa.

Open to university students worldwide; applicants should be in the final year of a bachelor's degree or the first year of a master's degree, have completed three years of university study in physics or a related subject, may not already hold a master's degree, and must not have participated previously in a DESY summer programme.
