Summer Student Programme 2026

An undergraduate summer student programme at DESY offering 7.5 weeks of first-hand research experience in photon science, accelerators, elementary particle physics and astroparticle physics. Selected students join day-to-day work in DESY research groups in Hamburg or Zeuthen, taking part in projects ranging from experimental work to data analysis, software development and theory. The programme includes a series of lectures in English, visits to accelerators, experiments and the computer centre. DESY Hostel accommodation is provided free of cost and students receive a daily salary and partial travel reimbursement.

DESY Hostel accommodation for the full programme, a daily salary (€28.50/day), at least partial travel reimbursement, lectures and visits to accelerators/experiments, supervised research project experience.

Undergraduate students in physics or related disciplines (such as scientific computing and engineering).
