Visits are intended to initiate collaboration between African and German scientists and may lead to longer-term links with other DFG programmes. Funding covers travel expenses and subsistence costs for the stay in Germany.

Eligibility
Applicants must hold a PhD obtained not earlier than 2020, be engaged in science in Sub-Saharan Africa for at least five years prior to the call, and not already be on site in Germany. Preference is given to women scientists.
How to apply
Submit an online application with required documents (passport copy, invitation letter from a German host, reference letters, PhD certificate, language proficiency, and a statement from the home institute). The results will be announced in January/February 2026; visits may occur between February 2026 and February 2027.
