The National Standard Examinations (NSE) are a set of subject-wise qualifying examinations (NSEP, NSEC, NSEB, NSEA, NSEJS) that form the first stage of selection for Indian participation in the International Science Olympiads. They are administered for school students in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Astronomy and Junior Science and lead to Indian National Olympiads (INOs) and further selection stages including Orientation Cum Selection Camps (OCSC). High-performing students receive national and state-level recognition and may progress to represent India at regional and international olympiads.

Eligibility
School students of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Astronomy and Junior Science; syllabi up to CBSE Class XII for NSEP/NSEC/NSEB, up to Class XII for NSEA (with basic astronomy), and up to CBSE Class X for NSEJS.
Application
Centre registration (Aug 1–20, 2026) followed by student enrolment (Aug 21–Sep 14, 2026); enrolment can be at the exam centre with fee payment or direct online enrolment and payment via the IAPT website.
