Information
The SPIRSE travel grants provide partial travel support for students who participate in IEEE robotics standardization meetings held in conjunction with the IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA). Grants are intended to enable student attendance at standards meetings, require participation in standards meetings and a short report after the conference, and prioritize students who would not otherwise attend and undergraduate students. Awards are reimbursements processed after attendance.
Benefits
Reimbursement of flights, hotel, and conference registration up to $3,000 each; requirement to participate in standards meetings and submit a 2–3 page report after the conference.
Eligibility
Students who are interested in participating in IEEE robotics standardization efforts; priority is given to students who would not otherwise attend ICRA (e.g., without an accepted paper) and to undergraduate students. IEEE membership is not required.
Application
Email a Word or PDF to Dr. Craig Schlenoff including name, contact information, and an essay (maximum 1000 words) addressing interest in robotic standards, specific IEEE Robotics Standards efforts of interest, plans to incorporate standards in education/career, and plans for continued participation in standardization efforts.
