Catalyst Grants

The Catalyst Grants are a Schmidt Science Fellows initiative that provides follow-on funding to Senior Fellows to pursue interdisciplinary research projects. The scheme supports collaborative, cross-disciplinary work emerging from Fellowship Research Placements and fellows’ discussions, with the aim of advancing new ideas and solutions. Five projects were funded in the 2023 cohort, spanning immune cell behavior, computational materials discovery, mechanosensation in immune cells, Antarctic ice sheet stability, and coral resilience.

Follow-on funding and access to ongoing programming and support within the Senior Fellows community; cross-cohort collaboration opportunities.

Senior Fellows of Schmidt Science Fellows are eligible to receive Catalyst Grants to pursue collaborative interdisciplinary projects.
