Information

The Infrastructure Priority Programme SPP 1294 (HALO) invites proposals for research projects (up to three years) to conduct atmospheric and Earth system research using the HALO high-altitude research aircraft. The programme supports mission-oriented projects addressing aerosols, clouds and precipitation, troposphere–stratosphere transport and dynamics, chemical composition, and atmospheric coupling processes. Proposals should primarily refer to an upcoming HALO mission or may utilise data from previous missions. Projects funded under the call are planned to start in 2028.

Eligibility

Proposals are invited from researchers and research institutions; DFG funding may only be awarded to research institutions that have implemented the Code of Conduct for Safeguarding Good Research Practice. Proposals must be written in English and submitted via the elan portal.

Proposals must be written in English and submitted solely via the DFG elan portal; first-time applicants must register in the elan portal by 2026-11-13.
