Simons Foundation Worldwide 2026

Information

The Simons Collaborations in Mathematics and the Physical Sciences program supports large, multi-investigator research collaborations in mathematics, theoretical physics, and theoretical computer science. Collaborations are expected to address fundamental scientific questions with clearly defined initial activities and goals, and to involve outstanding researchers across career stages. The program includes a collaboration director, Principal Investigators, and associated researchers, with organizational and meetings activities to foster sustained collaboration. Applicants demonstrate the potential for major scientific progress and the capacity to coordinate across institutions.

Eligibility

Collaborations must be led by a collaboration director who holds a tenured or equivalent position, with PIs/co-Is also holding tenured or equivalent positions at participating institutions; eligibility extends to both U.S. and international institutions and may include collaborators from non-participating organizations through consortium arrangements.

Application

Submit a letter of intent by the stated deadline, followed by a full proposal if invited, with institutional administration and collaboration leadership required; details available in the program's application resources.
