Grant Partially funded
London Mathematical Society United Kingdom 2026

Information

The Postgraduate Research Conference Grants (Scheme 8) provides partial financial support for mathematics conferences organised by postgraduate research students. Grants are intended to contribute to actual expenses such as travel, accommodation, subsistence and caring costs for participants. Conferences must be held in the UK, the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands and be open to students from several universities. The scheme supports mathematical meetings or the mathematical component of wider meetings (excluding mathematics education).

Benefits

Up to £2,500 towards travel, accommodation and subsistence costs of participants; may cover caring costs for attendees with dependents.

Eligibility

The organiser must be a postgraduate research student registered for a Doctorate at a university based in the UK, the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands at time of application and when the conference is planned. The applicant must be the postgraduate student and have the support of a member of academic staff; non‑LMS members need an LMS member to counter-sign the application. Applications must comply with the Society's Women in Mathematics policy.

Application

Submit the online application form via an LMS user account; applications require departmental academic staff support and (if applicant is non‑member) an LMS member counter-signature.
