Norman Webster Fellowship 2025

The Norman Webster Fellowship supports small Canadian local newsrooms to undertake an investigative public service journalism project. Two fellowships (one for English-language and one for French-language media) are awarded every 24 months, with funding valued up to $125,000 each, enabling the selected newsroom to produce a groundbreaking story or series.

Financial support for a newsroom project, potential collaboration with a national media outlet, bilingual translation of resulting stories to reach a wider audience.

Applicants must be a newsroom executive with authority over the proposed journalistic project; ideally a non-partisan local news organization based in Canada serving small- to medium-sized communities; must hire at least one early-career journalist (2-6 years experience) to lead or contribute to the project.
