MEXT Research Students Scholarship 2027

The MEXT Research Students Scholarship is a full scholarship offered by the Japanese government for international graduates to study at Japanese universities as non-regular research students, with the possibility to progress to Master’s or Doctoral programs after qualifying examinations. Participants receive a living stipend, cover for tuition, a round-trip flight, and visa support, among other benefits. The program supports researchers across multiple fields and starts with enrollment in Spring 2027 or Autumn 2027, with periods of 2 years for Spring enrollment and 1.5 years for Autumn enrollment, potentially extended for Master’s or Doctoral studies upon successful entry examinations.

Applicants must be graduates (D4/S1/S2) and meet age, field alignment, and academic criteria as specified for Master’s and Doctoral courses in Japan, with eligibility varying by phase of study.
