The Western Media Fellowship at Stanford University's Bill Lane Center for the American West supports journalists to develop or advance an original reporting project focused on the American West. Projects that connect with Stanford research, explore innovative regional journalism, or amplify emerging voices in environmental reporting are encouraged. Selected fellows receive a stipend to support three to six months of work.

Eligibility

The fellowship is intended for journalists who work in an eligible medium and have ties to a news organisation or media outlet that could publish or distribute the completed work. Applicants must propose an original reporting project focused on the American West and be able to complete and publish the work within the required timeframe.
