The F. A. Hayek Scholarship in Economics or Political Science is a merit- and/or need-based award established in 1994 through a gift from Alan Gibbs to support students undertaking Honours or Master's study at the University of Canterbury. It supports study in Economics or Political Science and requires a programme with a research component. The scholarship is awarded as a cash grant to successful applicants.

Eligibility
Applicants must be enrolled in a Master's or Honours degree in Economics or Political Science with a course weighting between 90 and 180 points and a research component of at least 30 points. There are no citizenship or residency restrictions.
