UKRI Enabling AI adoption across science and engineering

A UKRI funding opportunity to support ambitious, exploratory projects that bring together AI expertise and domain knowledge to enable adoption of AI across science and engineering. Projects should address application-focused research challenges and demonstrate potential to transform research practices, accelerate discovery or unlock new scientific capabilities. Awards are for projects of up to one year with a fixed start date of 2027-04-26.

Project funding up to a total FEC of £250,000 with UKRI covering 80% of costs.

Applicants must be based at a UK research organisation eligible for UKRI funding. International researchers may only apply as 'project co-lead (international)' under the UKRI-RCN Money Follows Cooperation agreement or the UKRI-IIASA agreement; other international collaborators should be included as project partners.

Applications submitted through the UKRI funding service; applicants must be based at an eligible UK research organisation and follow UKRI individual and organisation eligibility rules.
