Pivot Fellowship

Pivot Fellowship supports researchers with a strong track record who wish to apply their talents to a new discipline for one training year, embedded in a mentor’s lab. Fellows receive salary support for one academic year, plus a dedicated allowance for research, travel and professional development; mentors receive a research fund during the fellowship year. The program emphasizes mentorship and environment fit for transitioning to a new field within the sciences and mathematics.

Fellows must hold a Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent degree in the natural sciences or related fields and be affiliated with an academic institution, with approval for a full year of leave to undertake the fellowship. Fellows must pursue research in a new discipline distinct from their current field and cannot hold other salary-supporting fellowships during the training year.

Apply through the Simons Award Manager (SAM); separate applications are submitted for fellows and mentors within SAM.
