SNSF Starting Grants 2027

The SNSF Starting Grants 2027 provide major research funding for researchers to establish themselves as independent leaders in Switzerland. They offer up to CHF 1 million in project funding for a period of up to five years, with possible additional funding to cover the applicant’s salary where eligible. The programme is open to researchers from all disciplines and topics who are at an advanced career stage and ready to lead their own research team in Switzerland.

Project funds to cover staff, equipment, materials, travel, conferences, data access, infrastructure, and other eligible research expenses; potential salary for the applicant.

Applicants must be at the R3 career stage, have demonstrated scientific independence, and hold a PhD (or medical degree or equivalent) with the ability to design and conduct their own project with a research team.

Applications are submitted through the SNSF Starting Grants call process, with deadlines clearly published by the SNSF.
