Figma PhD Intern, AI Applied Scientist (2027)

A paid PhD internship on Figma’s AI Research team focused on applied generative AI and design. Interns drive research and engineering work such as post-training models, building evaluators, and optimizing agentic systems with product use cases and may have opportunities to publish. Appointments are for Winter 2027 or Summer 2027 in San Francisco or New York.

$74/hour pay; opportunity to conduct applied generative AI research with potential to publish

4th- or 5th-year PhD students in AI, ML, Computer Vision, NLP, HCI, or a related field with demonstrated AI expertise (publications on LLMs, agents, or related topics) and experience applying ML in academia or industry.
