Collaborative Fellowships in Jewish Heritage

Fellowship Partially funded
Rothschild Foundation Hanadiv Europe Worldwide 2026

Information

The Collaborative Fellowships in Jewish Heritage fund universities and heritage institutions to jointly recruit a doctoral or postdoctoral fellow to conduct research focused on the collections of the heritage institution. Projects are jointly supervised by an academic and a heritage professional and must demonstrate a transformative university–heritage relationship and the importance of understudied collections. Grants support independent research on Jewish Studies topics and expect open access dissemination.

Benefits

Grant funding to cover doctoral tuition, research, travel and living (up to £19,000 p.a.); postdoctoral salary costs (up to £40,000 p.a.); plus up to £6,000 p.a. for equipment, supervisor time, public engagement and other project costs.

Eligibility

European universities and heritage institutions (archives, libraries, museums) may jointly apply; applicants must be not-for-profit organisations. Applications are welcome from EU and non-EU European states except Ukraine, Russia and Belarus. Universities may submit one application per AJS funding round (doctoral fellowships are an exception).

Application

Institutions submit a project application via the Foundation's online grant portal; if awarded, the institution recruits a suitable candidate to start the following academic year. Sample application and budget forms are provided.
