Heinrich-Hertz-Stipendium

The Heinrich-Hertz-Stipendium provides financial support for international research stays to promote scientific exchange. It supports researchers who are working in North Rhine-Westphalia and plan a research project abroad, as well as researchers working abroad who plan a research project in North Rhine-Westphalia. Funding is awarded as personal support to cover travel or living expenses for a limited period.

Monthly stipend up to 1,500 EUR; possible family allowance of 200 EUR; coverage of travel or living expenses for the funded research stay.

Researchers working in North Rhine-Westphalia who plan a research stay abroad, and researchers working abroad who plan a research stay in North Rhine-Westphalia. Applications may be submitted by researchers employed in North Rhine-Westphalia to support suitable candidates. Doctoral projects are generally not supported except when the applicant is close to finishing the doctorate and the stay is essential to completion. Master students and doctoral candidates may be funded for a maximum of six months.

Applications can be submitted by researchers employed in North Rhine-Westphalia (to support candidates). Applicants must state the requested monthly amount and any other income; applications are limited to up to one year (extensions up to 12 months in justified cases).
