Sweden–America Foundation cash scholarships for Master's, doctoral and postdoctoral studies (USA & Canada)

The Sweden–America Foundation awards cash scholarships for master’s, doctoral and postdoctoral studies or research visits in the United States and Canada. Scholarships are awarded from various funds and can cover study or research stays of 6–12 months during the 1 July to 30 June 2028–2029 period. Awards are merit- and needs-based and are intended as contributions to financing the study or research visit. Recipients commit to become lifetime members of the Sweden–America Foundation and pay a membership fee when claiming the grant.

Cash grant (typically 50,000–400,000 SEK) and lifetime membership in the Sweden–America Foundation (membership fee payable when claiming the grant).

Applicants must be Swedish citizens and hold at least a completed basic degree (minimum a bachelor's). The scholarship must concern master’s, doctoral or postdoctoral studies in the USA or Canada lasting 6–12 months during 1 July to 30 June 2028–2029; exchange semesters are not eligible.

Digital application in English with attachments including budget form, CV with photo, study plan, certified degree certificates translated to English, admission letter or invitation, proof of citizenship, receipt of non-refundable application fee (350 SEK). Three signed recommendation letters must be sent directly by referees by the deadline.
