Information

The Harry Frank Guggenheim African Fellow Awards (call for 2026) recognize emerging African scholars studying aspects of violence on or related to the African continent. The Foundation selects a cohort of African Fellows roughly every two years, with about a dozen researchers chosen for projects deemed high quality and closely relevant to violence research. The Foundation funds fieldwork costs and provides a two-year fellowship with additional workshops, mentorship, conference sponsorship and publication support.

Eligibility

Applicants must be aged 45 or younger, currently enrolled in an accredited Ph.D. program at an African higher-education institution, and living on the African continent.
