NIST Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) 2027

The Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is a paid summer research internship for undergraduate students enrolled at accredited colleges in the United States. Participants gain hands-on research experience, work with mentors in professional laboratories, and contribute to projects connected to NIST’s science and technology mission across various STEM fields. The 2027 programme offers opportunities at NIST locations in Gaithersburg, Maryland and Boulder, Colorado, with multiple scheduling options in June–August 2027.
