Japan Study Support Scholarships 2026 for International Students

The Japan Study Support Scholarship (JPSS) is a financial aid program by the Government of Japan for international students who wish to pursue undergraduate or postgraduate degrees in Japanese universities. It provides financial support during the first year of study to help cover tuition, living, and accommodation expenses. Four scholarships are available for the 2026 intake.

Applicants must have admission to a Japanese university for Fall 2025 or Spring 2026, be registered on JPSS My Page, have received a message via the JPSS Scout function, be able to interview in Japanese or English, hold a Japanese bank account, and must not be a Japanese citizen.

Register on JPSS My Page, apply for admission to a Japanese university, receive a JPSS Scout message, complete the scholarship application form, and submit required documents before the deadline.
