The Anne van Biema Fellowship supports research and publication on Japanese visual arts at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Asian Art in Washington, DC. Fellowships are awarded to scholars at the postdoctoral or senior level for periods of two to twelve months and may include research space, access to collections, and a stipend to support the project.

Benefits

Stipend up to $60,000, prorated for term length; additional support up to $5,000 for research/travel; research space, networked computer, access to art collections, archives, and libraries.

Eligibility

Scholars of all nationalities may apply; proposals are for postdoctoral or senior researchers and must be conducted in the United States with appropriate visa arrangements handled as needed.
