Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program (ELAP) 2026/2027 Scholarship Requirements & Benefits

The Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program (ELAP) provides short-term study or research opportunities in Canada for students from Latin America and the Caribbean. For the 2026–2027 cycle, Canadian institutions nominate students through designated processes, with funds covering living costs and tuition fees waived by host institutions. The program aims to foster leadership development and strengthen people-to-people links across the Americas.

Living stipend, accommodation, books, local transport, day-to-day expenses; tuition fees waived at host institutions.

Applicants must be citizens of eligible countries in the Caribbean, Central America, South America or Mexico, be enrolled full-time at a recognized home-country institution, be paying tuition fees at their home institution, and be able to complete all project activities by 30 September 2027.

Institutions nominate students through the My EduCanada Portal; determine eligibility and submit required documentation; students must secure nomination from their home institution.
