University of Edinburgh Heritage Collections Research Fellowships 2026/2027

The Heritage Collections Research Fellowship is a funded research residency hosted by the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities (IASH), University of Edinburgh. It supports postdoctoral scholars to carry out original, collections-based research using the University’s extensive Heritage Collections, which include archives, manuscripts, rare books, art, musical instruments, and other culturally significant materials collected over four centuries. The fellowship lasts 3–6 months and provides a monthly bursary, travel allowance if required, and access to university facilities.

Monthly bursary, travel allowance (if required), dedicated office space, full library access, access to Heritage Collections and Digital Scholarship Centre, and academic mentorship.

Postdoctoral researchers worldwide; applicants must hold a PhD (normally awarded within the last five years) and must not have previously held an IASH fellowship.

Complete the online application form and submit all required documents by the deadline, including 2–3 confidential references and a proposal outlining engagement with a Heritage Collection.
