Megatrends Afrika Fellowship 2026

Applications are open for three fellowships under the Megatrends Afrika project, a collaboration between SWP, IDOS and the Kiel Institute. Fellows conduct a policy-relevant research project for three months in fall 2026, reside in Germany during the fellowship, and contribute to the project’s publication series. The program targets African researchers and offers a stipend, travel support, and related assistance.

Monthly stipend of €2,800, economy-class travel reimbursement, local support for transportation and mobile phone costs, visa assistance.

Applicant should have a completed PhD in political science, economics, social sciences, geography, international relations, or a relevant area studies; origin should be from an African country; strong research and publication track record; experience in scientific policy advice is an advantage.
