A field research grant program supporting graduate student pre-dissertation or thesis field research in Latin America and the Caribbean. Grants are administered at Florida International University's Kimberly Green Latin American and Caribbean Center as part of the Tinker Field Research Collaborative. Awards provide modest project funding to cover travel, transportation, and per diem costs for in-person field research. The Collaborative also supports exchange of best practices and networking among centers and recipients.

Up to $2,700 per student to cover travel, transportation, and per diem for field research; networking and participation in Collaborative activities and resources.

Eligibility

Open to enrolled graduate students from all academic disciplines for pre-dissertation or thesis field research at the master’s or doctoral level; field research must be between two weeks and four months in duration.

Application

Applicants submit the Tinker Field Grant application (PDF linked on the LACC page). Funding decisions are made by an interdisciplinary faculty committee and applicants are notified in April.
