Information

The Ian Axford Fellowships are a policy fellowship programme administered by Fulbright New Zealand for mid-career United States professionals to undertake policy research and engagement with New Zealand government agencies. Fellowships run for three to five months, based primarily in Wellington, and require the production of a policy report and a public presentation. The programme is sponsored by multiple New Zealand government agencies and aims to strengthen US–New Zealand policy understanding and collaboration.

Benefits

Return airfare; monthly stipend (NZ$1,500–NZ$5,000); dependent allowance (NZ$500/month); up to NZ$3,000 for dependents' flights; travel support within New Zealand; placement with government host agency and mentorship leading to a policy report and public seminar.

Eligibility

Applicants must be US citizens, mid-career professionals with a minimum of five years' professional experience in the public, business, or non-profit sectors, and demonstrate leadership potential and interest in applying New Zealand policy lessons in the US.

Application

Complete and submit the application form and supporting documents by the deadline, arrange three references using the Guide for Referees, and provide an employer letter confirming support and leave status via the programme website.
