FLAD Reengagement Program 2026

The FLAD Reengagement Program is a one-time grant initiative to support impactful academic, social, and professional projects undertaken by U.S. citizens returning to Portugal. Selected participants receive funding to implement projects with social, academic, or economic impact, including internships, residencies, or training programs in Portuguese institutions. A minimum stay of 30 days in Portugal is required, and the grant is intended to help implement proposals rather than provide a salary.

One-time grant (€3,000-€5,000) to support project execution; requires 30+ days in Portugal; potential affiliation with a host institution.

Open to U.S. citizens who have previously studied, worked, researched, or volunteered in Portugal, up to 35 years old at the time of application, with a feasible project proposal and a letter of affiliation from a Portuguese host institution.

Submit a project proposal with a letter of affiliation from a Portuguese host institution; rolling deadline with decisions within about 15 working days.
